
We discuss detrital particles in the modern samples and their relation to source areas and sedimentation dynamics authigenic minerals in relation to physico-chemical conditions of the modern basin and grain size distribution in relation to sedimentation agents, climate and sedimentary environments.

Our results are based in part on field observations and in part on laboratory analysis executed at Laboratoire de Géologie du Quaternaire, Luminy in Marseille.
